- The number of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N8) cases among birds during the past 24 hours in the Kingdom was (5) injuries, of which (3) in Al-Ahsa province in the Eastern Region came in the habitats in traditional breeding farms, and two in Riyadh, A poultry project, and another in a traditional breeding farm.

- The number of samples that arrived at the veterinary diagnosis laboratory in Riyadh until today (1820) samples since the beginning of the outbreak of the disease, and collected samples based on citizens' reports, and procedures of survey and investigation in the vicinity of affected areas.


- The field teams in Al-Kharj, Dharma and Muzahmiyya governorates continued the procedures for the safe disposal of birds, disinfecting and prevention in (3) poultry projects. The emergency plan is fully implemented at these sites and the affected areas are cleared.

- In addition, the field teams in Al-Ahsa governorate continued the procedures for safe disposal of infected birds in a number of fauna in the vicinity of the areas where the infection was detected, completing the implementation of the emergency plan in the governorate and clearing the affected areas.

- The field teams in Al-Qassim area have continued their epidemiological investigations in the farms and restrooms located in the vicinity of the area where the infection was detected and declared previously. The emergency plan was fully implemented and the affected area was cleared.

- The number of communications received by the emergency room during the past 24 hours was 17, 16 of which were issued, while 46 were sent to the emergency room.

- Continued epidemiological surveillance and veterinary guidance of highly virulent avian influenza during the past 24 hours in (25) awareness points in markets and gatherings in all regions of the Kingdom.

The Ministry confirms that all breeders of birds are prohibited from selling and buying from areas that have recorded cases of the disease, and that the Ministry, in cooperation with other parties, will be required to comply with the ban on the sale and purchase of birds in these areas, to protect their birds and to prevent the risk of spread of infection to other areas Making it difficult to pursue and eradicate the disease.

New bird flu cases reported in KSA; transport of live birds between regions banned

RIYADH: The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday that seven cases of H5N8 avian flu had been recorded in the country in the previous 24 hours, five in Riyadh, one in Qassim and one in Tarout Island.

Field teams in Kharj and Dharma provinces have instigated a cull of infected birds on two poultry farms ? with 813 birds safely disposed of in Dharma ? while an overall emergency plan is being implemented to clear the infected areas.

In Ahsa province, teams finalized measures to safely cull 1,325 birds on a number of farms where the H5N8 virus was detected. In Qassim, 800 birds were euthanized.

- During the past 24 hours, the Ministry recorded 4 new H5N8 bird flu cases among birds in Riyadh city and Riyadh governorate, all in traditional breeding habitats.

- The number of samples that arrived at the veterinary diagnosis laboratory in Riyadh till this day (1851) samples since the beginning of the outbreak, and collected samples based on citizens' reports, and procedures of survey and investigation in the vicinity of affected areas.

- The number of communications received by the emergency room during the past 24 hours was 19, 8 of which were received, and 66 were received by the emergency room.

- The number of rounds of bird flu awareness in the past 24 hours (25) awareness tour in markets and gatherings in all regions of the Kingdom.


- Continued prohibition of the ministry on all poultry projects and transport companies, in addition to bird breeders and individuals, any transfer of birds between the regions of the Kingdom without a permit from the Ministry.


The Ministry also emphasizes the poultry farms in the Kingdom of the need to tighten biosecurity measures, non-transport in areas of bird flu, and the need to clean and wash transport vehicles at the entrances of farms, slaughterhouses and poultry feed factories within the projects, and field teams of the Ministry of inspection visits, , And the imposition of penalties on the violator according to the regulations. The ministry called on bird breeders in the Kingdom to avoid buying live birds from unknown sources, and not to bring birds to markets and places of sale indiscriminately, to reduce the risk of spreading the disease.
