46 Years old Man dies after contracting influenza virus in the North


A man of 46 years died this Tuesday (10), the victim of the influenza virus, known as swine flu. He was an inhabitant of Guaramirim, in the North of Santa Catarina, and was hospitalized for nearly a month in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in the city, As publicized by RBS News (see video on the side).


According to the epidemiological surveillance, this is the third death by virus in the city. In the region, the number of deaths up this Tuesday (20) reaches 9. The city of Taunton also recorded three deaths. The municipalities of Schroeder, Massaranduba, State and Corupáregistered a death each.

According to the data released by the Directorate of Epidemiological Surveillance (Lvid) State Secretary of Health, Canoinhas registered a death by influenza type H1N1 until the Saturday, 31. Two patients are interned in the ICU with H1N1, in Blumenau

Two persons are interned in Unities of Intensive Therapy of Blumenau (ICU), of the Hospitals Saint Ant?nio and Saint Catarina, because of having contracted the virus influenza A of the flu H1N1. Another patient submitted in a nosocomial unity of the local authority, in the night of this Thursday (13), with symptoms of the disease. Teams of the Vigilance Epidemiol?gica (DVE) collected samples of the patient and directed to the Central Laboratory of Public Health (Lacen), with the objective to confirm the suspicion.


The manager of the DVE, Ivonete of the Saints, affirms that a man and a woman were confirmed by the disease in the beginning of November. The patient with suspicion of having contracted the virus also is of the masculine sex and it submitted in the Holy Hospital Ant?nio. Three patients have between 40 and 50 years of age.
