Russia: a look at life expectancy

In 2007 expectancy of life in Russia stood at 61.39 years among males and 73.90 years among females.

During the year 2,080,445 people died. Almost 20 percent of the deceased - 389,214 - were 49 years or younger

The high mortality among younger and middle-aged men brings the expectancy of life for males in the country considerably down,
as Russian Federation saw 292,617 males under 50 years of age die in 2007, representing 26.7 per cent of all deaths among males
