This weekend, the services of the ARS (health agency of the Indian Ocean) have been notified of a suspected case of bird flu in Reunion. The patient, who was returning from a trip to China, had some effect in respiratory disorders. This morning the test results were known and ARS confirmed that the latter was not affected by the virus.
To minimize risks, the Agency for Health Indian Ocean recalls the recommendations for travelers to certain countries * :
Apply conventional hygiene, especially regular hand washing with soap and water or an alcohol-based solution. Avoid contact with animals. In case of high fever and breathing difficulties on site consult a physician immediately.
In the days after the return:
In case of fever and respiratory symptoms, consult a doctor or call an ambulance center 15 (tel: 15) indicating that trip.
