Results surveillance activities in Quang Ngai: raising awareness against bird flu. (16/07/2010)
Quang Ngai is one in nine provinces were selected as pilot program to prevent avian influenza Highly Pathogenic between the Government and United Nations agencies, phase II. In the second phase of this program to prevent avian influenza Highly Pathogenic help raise awareness of people to create change payment behavior and disease highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry. Activities such as training in epidemiology at the grassroots level, supporting the mass vaccination campaign and track results after vaccination, strengthening of diagnostic laboratory and disease surveillance throughout the provinces, testing the effectiveness of vaccines, and study the role of disease and wild birds flock unbridled.
On that basis, from January to December 11/2009 6 / 2010 monitoring program was implemented in 581 villages of 104 communes in six pilot districts (Binh Son, Son Tinh, Tu Nghia, Nghia Hanh, Mo Duc, Duc Prussia). Participants are mainly monitoring force of veterinary practitioners in communes, wards, towns and mobilize a small number of village officials is not enough in the communal forces veterinary
Monitoring disease as far as household activities bring practical results, helping the commander and disease prevention in livestock and poultry facilities in understanding the disease situation changes quickly and organization prevention and timely. Through project funding support for veterinary village forces, create connections and mounting better coordinate the implementation of prevention at the grassroots forces between veterinary and local government as: mobilized to participate in monitoring the disease situation, take part in the stamping services, preventive vaccination. Since the force rural veterinary cases of disease outbreak in the province are reported more quickly and in time the district veterinary station as well as the provincial animal health department to implement activities to control an epidemic better way.
During the monitoring in Quang Ngai Province have discovered a bird flu outbreak occurs in Tinh Son commune, Son Tinh district. Thanks to the close combination between forces from the countryside to the provincial animal health should occur when the disease was detected early and controlled not extinguished in time to spread to other areas.
