Rehabilitation Center Casa Branca, SP, has H3N2 flu outbreak - two deaths

The Surveillance of the Casa Branca (SP) confirmed on Monday (10) an outbreak of influenza H3N2, a subtype of influenza A, the Rehabilitation Center Cocais. On Sunday night (9), a 68-year old died in hospital with symptoms of the disease.

Altogether, 119 of 600 patients have been treated with the drug Tamiflu, vaccinated against flu and are quarantined since last week. The results of examinations of the elderly who died should come out next week.

The initial suspicion was H1N1, but tests done on three patients detected the H3N2, a virus discovered in the twentieth century, in China, which weakens the immune system mainly for children up to 2 years and older, unlike H1N1 that can achieve a larger group of people.

Two old men die for suspicion of flu H3N2 at White Home, SP
