State authorities and municipalities along the coast of Jalisco are on high alert for Hurricane Beatriz, even at 7:00 am category one, whose eye was located about 20 miles south of Manzanillo, Colima.

The State Unit of Civil Protection and Fire Jalisco (UEPCBJ) reported this morning that the alert remains at yellow.

However, officials from the municipalities of Cihuatl?n, La Huerta, Tomatl?n, Cabo Corrientes and Puerto Vallarta, and coordinate with the government entity to act with shelters and other support, if they occur affectations.

Meanwhile, the state civil protection strengthened its coastal bases at least 60 elements.

at 500 am PDT...1200 UTC...the center of Hurricane Beatriz was
located near latitude 19.4 north...longitude 105.0 west. Beatriz is
moving toward the northwest near 13 mph...20 km/h. This general
motion is expected to continue today...with a gradual turn toward
the west-northwest expected tonight and Wednesday. On the forecast
track...the center of Beatriz will continue moving along the coast
of Mexico between la Fortuna and Cabo Corrientes over the next few
hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 90 mph... 150 km/h...with higher
gusts. Beatriz is a category one hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson
hurricane wind scale. Weakening is expected to begin later today
or tonight.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 25 miles...35 km...from
the center...and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105
miles...165 km.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 977 mb...28.85 inches.


Hazards affecting land

Rainfall...Beatriz is expected to produce total rain accumulations

Jalisco...Colima...and michoacan in southwestern Mexico...with
possible isolated maximum amounts of 20 inches over mountainous
terrain. These rains could cause life-threatening flash floods and
mud slides.

Storm surge...a storm surge is expected to produce coastal flooding
in areas of onshore winds within the Hurricane Warning area. Near

The states of Colima and Jalisco in western Mexico, are in "red" (highest risk) due to the proximity of Hurricane Beatriz , category 1 on the Saffir-Simpson (five), officials said.

In a bulletin issued at 7.00 local time (12.00 GMT), the National Weather Service (NWS) warned that there is a hazard rating "strong" by the proximity of Beatriz , who remains on alert a strip of coast from the port of Lazaro Cardenas in Colima, to Cabo Corrientes, in Jalisco.

The center of hurricane was located about 33 kilometers west of the port of Manzanillo, in Colima , and travels 19 kilometers per hour toward the northwest.

The winds that accompany Beatriz blow a speed of 150 kilometers per hour and are accompanied by gusts of 185 kilometers.

The area most affected by heavy rains in the area is the central Mexican Pacific.

The National Civil Protection System ( Sinaproc ) maintains a "red alert" (maximum danger) to Colima and Jalisco to where the hurricane is approaching, and at level "orange" (high risk) to Michoacan and Guerrero, the that the phenomenon away.

In "yellow alert" (moderate hazard) remains the state of Nayarit and the Islas Marias, and "Blue Alert" (minimum risk) the states of Baja California Sur, in northwestern Mexico, and the Federal District, State Mexico, Morelos and Oaxaca.

The NWS has recommended restricting in various parts of western Mexico all types of aviation, shipping and reporting on the prohibition of recreational water in the sea and beach area.

Extreme caution has also asked to traffic on main roads and rural roads in areas affected by the rains.

Beatriz last night became the second hurricane of the season in the Pacific basin to reach peak winds of 120 kilometers per hour.

This storm appeared in the Pacific on Sunday as tropical storm has intensified in recent hours.

The first storm of the season in the Pacific, Adrian , became a hurricane category 4 until days later dissipated without causing serious damage in Mexico.

Mexican authorities predict that during the hurricane season this year, 17 tropical cyclones form each of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, of which about 14 may impact Mexico.
