Like in BC and New Brunswick, whooping cough is making a comeback in Quebec. La Presse reports this morning that there have been 88 declared cases of whooping cough since the start of the year. That compares with a dozen during all of last year...

Health officials in several Quebec regions are concerned about an increase in whooping cough among adults.

There have been 15 new cases in the last six weeks in the Lower St. Lawrence ? the area between Quebec City and the Gasp? that includes Rimouski and Rivi?re-du-Loup ? and 30 in the Mauricie, north and northeast of Montreal...

Public health officials say Montreal and Quebec are in the midst of the worst outbreak of whooping cough we've seen in decades...

...There have been 435 cases reported in Quebec by the end of July, most of those cases were in children under 15. There were 46 cases reported by the end of July last year.

So far, no one has died from the illness, but several children have had to be treated in the intensive-care unit of the Montreal Children's Hospital...
