Possible 'swine flu'

Pueblo could be going through its first schoolwide outbreak of H1N1 or "swine flu."

Natalie Allen, interim principal of the Pueblo School for the Arts and Sciences, said 47 students were home sick on the first day of school last Tuesday and another 25 were sent home during the day with fevers of 100 to 102 degrees, headaches and stomach aches. Allen said some staff members also were ill. It's the only school to report a significant outbreak of flulike symptoms so far.

On Colorado's Dept of Health site for week 7:

"School ILI Absenteeism Surveillance has continued to stay fairly stable for the past four weeks, Anecdotal comments from both local public health and school nurses indicate respiratory illnesses other than influenza are being seen."
