HA NOI ? A working group meeting of representatives from different sectors and organisations was held in Ha Noi last week to discuss a new campaign to increase awareness on avian influenza.

The campaign, "One Campaign, Many Sectors," to be launched soon, will provide a new impetus to preventing avian and human influenza pandemics. It is a part of a joint Government-United Nations programme to combat the highly pathogenic avian influenza.

The target groups of the campaign will be expanded from the traditional groups of general public in rural and urban areas, poultry industry and farmers to children and educators.

Participants from relevant sectors, including health ministry, World Health Organisation, Food and Agriculture Organisation, United Nations Children?s Fund and United Nations Development Programme, discussed common themes, logos and slogans for the new campaign.

The previous campaign "Many Messages" was also reviewed at the meeting. All proposals will be studied and unified before launching the campaign in a few weeks. ? VNS
