Gaza, October 13, (Pal Telegraph) In a conference, professionals and psychiatrists recommended the necessity of more community intervention to improve the mental health of children at schools and other community centers by trained professionals and psychiatrists. In addition, the attendants highlighted the importance of training parents on the early detection of their children's problems and how to deal with these problems through listening to them and conduct modification to their style of parenting.
Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) organized a scientific conference entitled "20 months after the Israeli war on Gaza...Psychosocial impacts on Palestinian Children" in coordination with Welfare Association. The conference, which was attended by 120 representatives of governmental and civil society organizations, as well as by news agencies, was held at Commodore Gaza Hotel on September 28th, 2010. During the conference, the attendants stressed the importance of the programs that enhance the children's coping with conflicts pointing out the parents' role in relieving the suffering of children through recreational activities such as taking them to parks and sea beach and reducing their watching of war related programs or news bulletins.
