SALINAS, Calif. - On Wednesday, many children in Monterey County will be heading back to school. With the start of school comes concerns of the spread of H1N1, especially now that there's been word that less vaccines will be available.
The U.S. Government just announced that they'll be receiving less than half of its H1N1 vaccine supply by the time flu season. The government originally ordered 120 million doses of the H1N1 vaccine to be ready by mid-October.
But now, drug companies are having production problems and will only have 45 million doses ready in time. The government's calling it a delay not a shortage. They expect to receive the same amount of the vaccine, just a little longer. They're giving it to those who are most at risk including children.
This dealy means those who aren't on the priority list may have to wait an extra month before getting their H1N1 vaccine.
