Gov't panel says no sign of Mt Fuji erupting after killer quake

A government panel of experts in volcanic eruptions said Tuesday that it has detected no signs that Mt. Fuji and other active volcanoes west of Tokyo may erupt soon despite a series of temblors in the region following the devastating earthquake in northeastern Japan.
??With no subtle volcanic movements or crustal movements, we do not see signs that would immediately lead to eruptions,?? Hitoshi Yamasato, a panel member told reporters, referring to the country?s highest peak as well as Mt Hakone and Mt Yakidake.
