Influenza: Virus may have killed boy of ten years


A boy of ten years died today at the end of the morning, close to 11 hours, the Hospital de Dona Estefania, Lisbon, with flu-like symptoms.

Only the results of laboratory tests can confirm the presence of the H1N1 virus.

Lisboa, 28 Out (Lusa) - Um menino de dez anos infectado com o v?rus da gripe A (H1N1) morreu hoje no Hospital D. Estef?nia, em Lisboa, onde estava internado desde a madrugada de hoje, anunciou o Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Central (CHLC).

ada no Servi?o de Urg?ncia perto das 06:00 de hoje, dia 28 de Outubro, com sintomatologia gripal", tendo sido realizadas "an?lises laboratoriais e identificado o v?rus H1N1 nas secre??es respirat?rias", adianta o CHLC.

A Direc??o Cl?nica aguarda o resultado da aut?psia para determina??o da causa de morte.

Lisbon, Oct 28 (Reuters) - A boy of ten infected with influenza A (H1N1) died today at Hospital D. Estefania, Lisbon, where he had been hospitalized since early morning today, announced the Central Lisbon Hospital Center (CHLC).

The child was admitted in the emergency department by 06:00 today, 28th of October with flu-like symptoms" were conducted "laboratory and identified the H1N1 virus in respiratory secretions," says the CHLC.


The Directorate Clinical awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
