Portugal já contabilizou 14 mortes causadas por gripe A. Os dados constam da última actualização
feita pelo Centro Europeu para Prevenção e Controlo de Doenças (ECDC). Só nas últimas 24 horas
foram registadas três casos no nosso país, a juntar a outros três falecimentos contabilizados entre
sexta-feira e domingo. O aumento de mortes tem-se intensificado em toda a Europa, em especial
nos países da área Ocidental.

De acordo com o relatório do ECDC, em Portugal estão 184 pessoas hospitalizadas devido ao vírus
H1N1, 18 das quais em unidades de cuidados intensivos.

Nos 27 países da União Europeia e nos quatro que constituem a EFTA (Associação Europeia de
Comércio Livre) o número de mortes já vai em 690 desde Abril.
“Os números relativos a mortes têm registado um aumento constante, quase duplicando a cada 24
horas nas últimas seis semanas.

Enquanto o maior número de mortes tem sido reportado na Europa Ocidental, há cada vez mais
mortes registada na Europa Central e de Leste”, indica o ECDC.
O Governo português ainda só reportou as últimas seis mortes ao organismo europeu.

Portugal has recorded 14 deaths caused by influenza A. The data from the latest update
made by the European Center for Prevention and Control (ECDC). Only in the last 24 hours
three cases were registered in our country, to join the other three deaths recorded among
Friday and Sunday. The increase in deaths has intensified across Europe, in particular
countries of the Western area.


According to the report of the ECDC, in Portugal are 184 people hospitalized due to virus
H1N1, 18 of them in intensive care units.

In the 27 EU countries and the four that constitute the EFTA (European Free
Free Trade) the number of deaths has grown to 690 since April.
"The figures for deaths have steadily increased, almost doubling every 24
hours in the last six weeks.

While the largest number of deaths has been reported in Western Europe, there is increasing
deaths recorded in Central and Eastern Europe ", indicates the ECDC.
The Portuguese Government has just reported the latest six deaths to the European body.

The balance

Contudo, a governante afirmou que no comunicado semanal, que ? divulgado ? quarta-feira, contendo dados coligidos at? ao domingo anterior, ser? feita essa refer?ncia aos n?meros.

A ministra destacou a investiga??o da Autoridade Europeia do Medicamento que conclui n?o existir uma causa directa entre a vacina contra o v?rus H1N1 e a morte de fetos e pediu a ajuda da comunica??o social para fazer passar esta mensagem.

A governante apelou ?s gr?vidas para que ?procurem a vacina??o?, para evitar mais mortes, salientando que j? morreu uma mulher gr?vida com gripe A.

Health Minister confirms 16 deaths in Portugal

Two women died during the weekend

According to the website of the Directorate General of Health, two women, respectively 29 and 62 years died infected with the H1N1 virus, bringing to 32 the death toll from influenza A in Portugal.

The deaths occurred on 5 and 6 December respectively. Both deaths occurred in the central region and both victims had associated risk factors.

Three new deaths from the flu but new cases are declining
