Poland reports record daily increase in coronavirus cases - Oct 30, 2020

WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland reported a record 21,629 new coronavirus infections on Friday, the health ministry said, with the country facing hospitals being overloaded and the prospect of mass protests in Warsaw against an abortion ban.

The ministry also said that 202 people died of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the overall death toll to 5,351 people.

According to the ministry 422,767 people are quarantined and 28,528 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 306,022 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 417,275 active cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Poland.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 2,103 out of 2,754 available.
