Posted - 10/9/2009 at 2:40PM

The Pima County Health Department has received confirmation from the Arizona Department of Health Services of its first H1N1 death for the fall influenza season.

The young adult male, who passed away early in October, also suffered from compromising respiratory issues.

For calendar year 2009, the number of Pima County deaths from the H1N1 virus now stands at 3, all of whom had a prior complicating medical condition.

During the spring outbreak two medically compromised pre-teens succumbed to the virus.
