As usual I take issue with this - Our 2012 thread shows that 132,046 cases were reported to Oct 13 of that year http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/showpost.php?p=473933&postcount=64 We are hitting a similar number 3 weeks earlier this year. I agree that fatalities are well down compared to last year's 701 by Oct 13.

Over 11,000 dengue cases recorded in Region 12

COTABATO CITY, Philippines ? Health officials in Region 12 have listed a total of 11, 020 dengue cases --- with 56 fatalities --- from January to early October this year, The Star learned Wednesday.

Jenny Ventura, chief information officer of the Department of Health in Region 12, said North Cotabato, which covers 17 towns and Kidapawan City, still has the highest prevalence of dengue cases in the region since the last three quarters.

Ventura said the dengue cases they have recorded from January 1 to early October 2013 was ?233 percent higher" than the 2012 documented cases of the mosquito-borne disease...

Public warned against sustained hike in dengue cases in Davao City

DAVAO CITY, Nov 4 (PIA)- An official of the Department of Health (DOH) in Davao Region urged the public to continue to be vigilant against dengue-carrying mosquitoes as their monitoring showed sustained increase in dengue cases in Davao City as of October 30, 2013.

Speaking at the Kapehan sa SM City, Divine Hilario, information and education officer of the DOH 11 said a total of 9,593 cases with 60 deaths had been attributed to dengue as of October this year, higher by 1,181 cases but lower by 30 deaths compared to the same period in 2012, with 8,412 cases and 90 deaths.

She said the DOH surveillance unit acquired the data from the different sentinel hospitals where these cases were attended...

Dengue in grandstand evacuation center

City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos bared that cases of dengue fever have already been discovered at the Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex evacuation center.

According to Agbulos, some children staying at the said evacuation center may have been infected by dengue carrying mosquitos because there is stagnant water in certain areas in the grandstand.

The number was three-folds higher as compared to 2012 when RESU recorded only 4,423 dengue cases.

BUTUAN CITY (MindaNews / 8 Jan) ? The number of dengue cases in Caraga Region in 2013 increased by seven percent compared to the previous year, prompting the Department of Health (DOH) to call on local governments to implement more measures to prevent spread of the mosquito-borne disease.

Dr. Gerna Manatad, head of the DOH?s Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance unit, said that the cases in all of 2013 reached 2,702 as against the 2,522 cases in 2012.

Butuan City leads the most number of cases with 839. Next is Agusan del Sur, with a combined cases of 538...

Dengue cases in Negros Oriental higher in 2013

DUMAGUETE CITY, Jan. 9 -– The total number of dengue cases in Negros Oriental in 2013 posted a 6.6 percent increase over the same period of coverage in 2012, according to records at the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).
The number of deaths, however, was lesser for the same period, according to IPHO chief, Dr. Edgar Barredo.
According to Dr. Barredo, from January 1 to December 21, 2013, the province of Negros Oriental recorded a total of 3,418 cases of dengue with seven deaths.
In 2012, the IPHO recorded a lower figure of 3,208 dengue cases but with ten deaths for the same period, he added.

2013: Lesser dengue cases in Cebu City

CEBU, Philippines - Cases of dengue in Cebu City have significantly declined last year compared to 2012, based on the record of the City Health Department - City Epidemiology Statistics and Surveillance Unit.

Cebu City councilor Lea Japson, head of the Committee on Health, presented during Monday's regular session statistics that showed that dengue cases in the city declined by almost half with 2,558 dengue cases recorded from January to December last year compared to last 2012's 4,057 cases.

Japson further showed that there were five dengue-related deaths in 2013, which also decreased from the 13 deaths recorded in 2012.

Surigao City Health Office bares decline of dengue cases

SURIGAO CITY, Jan. 10 (PIA)— The communicable disease cluster coordinator, Gorosfe Menor said that cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever in the city is showing a downward trend compared to year 2012.

"Although the mosquito-borne disease remains a major health concern," Menor said.

She said that there’s a significant decrease from as high as 318 cases on the last monitoring, the number tremendously declined to 244 cases.

Dengue cases in Central Luzon down by 29.5% in 2013

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, January 14 (PIA) -- Department of Health (DOH) recorded a 29.5% decrease in dengue cases in Central Luzon last year.

?A total of 19,128 cases were reported in 2013 which is lower compared to the 27,122 in 2012. We had 33 confirmed fatalities,? DOH Regional Director Leonita Gorgolon disclosed.

Most provinces, with the exception of Aurora, noted a decline of as much as 41 percent.

TACLOBAN -- The Department of Health recorded 251 cases of dengue, 16 chikungunya cases, and 61 patients with measles in Eastern Visayas in January.

According to the DOH, garbage in areas affected by "Yolanda" have become breeding grounds of mosquitoes carrying dengue and chikungunya diseases...
