ROXAS City ? A student of Capiz State University (CapSU) Pontevedra Campus has died of a rare ailment.
Camille Ann Flores succumbed to aspiration pneumonia, a complication of Guillain-Barr? Syndrome, according to Bailan District Hospital.
...
Flores was admitted in the district hospital at about 8:05 p.m. on Sept. 23 after complaining of weakness and difficulty in walking.
Two days later, she had difficulty breathing and was restless. She died at 2:52 a.m., said the hospital.
...
On the day Flores died, Roche Macabanto of Dao, Antique, a former board mate of Flores, was rushed to the district hospital.
Macabanto complained of numbness of her lower extremities. She was referred to a private hospital here for better treatment. She was already stable as of this writing.
In light of the incidents, Dr. Editha Magallanes, CapSU president, issued an order suspending all classes and office work at the Pontevedra Campus from Sept. 26 to 30 to give way to fogging.
School officials believe the infection that Flores and Macabanto may have contracted was airborne./PN
