District Closes School Due to Flu

(Edgar Springs, MO) -- With student illness approaching nearly 43% of enrollment, officials with the Phelps County R-3 school district in Edgar Springs, Missouri are canceling classes until Monday, October 19.

Superintendent Kay McMurtrey tells KOLR10/KSFX News students and staff are showing flu and virus symptoms that include a high fever, body aches and cough. Of the 210 students enrolled in the K-8 district, 92 were out sick Monday and 90 were gone today.

McMurtrey says 3 of her 34 staff members are also out sick.
