Tumbes: Diresa activates epidemiological fence to prevent possible cases of bird flu
Diresa Tumbes activated an epidemiological fence in the Casitas district, due to a case of bird flu in poultry, to prevent possible cases of this disease in humans.
08:04 | Tumbes,

Given the alert issued by the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) of a case of bird flu in poultry in the town of Averías Alto, Casitas district, the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa) of Tumbes activated an epidemiological fence in the area, to prevent the virus from affecting the inhabitants.

The active epidemiological surveillance personnel of the Zorritos Health Micronetwork and the Trigal post office went to a house where the contagion of animals was reported; In addition, a census was carried out in twelve houses in which 23 people reside, none with avian flu symptoms; however, of the 140 birds that bred, 113 have died.

As part of the prevention actions, in Averías Alto, monitoring of people who have been exposed to infected animals was arranged, the same ones that were cremated; In addition, if probable cases occur in the residents, swab samples will be taken.

So far, at the regional level, the Directorate of Epidemiology of the Diresa Tumbes confirmed that there are no cases of patients with symptoms of the aforementioned disease. The population is advised not to handle sick or dead birds, to continue washing their hands and if they present respiratory symptoms, go to the nearest health facility.

Casitas is located three hours southeast of the city of Tumbes and has a population of approximately 5,000. Its inhabitants are engaged in agricultural activity, raising goats, cattle and, as a rural area, most of them raise poultry.:tiphat:https://euro.eseuro.com/local/85651.html
