On Saturday, 24, takes place in Luis Eduardo Magalhaes and throughout the national territory the National Day of Vaccination against seasonal influenza for persons aged over 60 years. The date marks the beginning of the campaign that has become a hallmark of the Ministry of Health in the country.


The gap in 2010 is to be made available also doses of vaccine against the H1N1 virus. Vaccination of the elderly population is part of the third stage of the national campaign began in March and already immunized, only in the town of Luis Eduardo Magalhaes, over 3 thousand people.


On Saturday, the team of the Department of Health will meet in the following health centers: Polyclinic Health Center, Doerner and Oscar Oswaldo Cruz, Santa Cruz district, the Health Center Mimoso I; Health Centre des Acacias and Garden Tour New Health Paran?.


"These units will provide, in addition to seasonal influenza for the elderly, the H1N1 vaccine for children six months to two years (incomplete), pregnant women, patients with chronic diseases and adults and youth 20 to 29 years," explains Regina Silmara Gris nurse and director of Health Surveillance in the city.


Gris points out that the normal flu vaccination for the elderly will be extended until Friday, May 7. The expectation is to surpass the record set in 2009 when 837 people were immunized during the campaign.


Meningitis C - The nurse also noted that units Polyclinic, Jardim das Acacias and Oscar Doerner also will provide the vaccine against meningitis C for children aged two months to five years incomplete.
