Para reported last week, another case of death caused by influenza A (H1N1) - Swine flu. With this, the number of deaths from the disease this year in the state rose to 29, according to report released on Wednesday (21) by the Ministry of Public Health and the State (SESP).
Of the 624 cases with suspected severe acute respiratory syndrome this year, 219 had confirmed infection with H1N1 virus, which causes the disease. The capital, Belem, recorded the highest number of deaths: five.
Only health workers in Par? have 100% vaccination rate. Indigenous people living in villages are the priority group with the second highest rate: 82%. Then come the children under 2 years (74%) and women (60%). Those with chronic diseases and adults 20 to 29 years have lower rates: 45% and 41% respectively.
According to the spokesperson for the Sesp, director of the Department of Health Surveillance, Anne Helfer, will hold a news conference on the situation of influenza in the state on the afternoon of Thursday (22).
Friday (23) is the last day for the population between 20 and 29 years, pregnant women, children between 6 months and 2 years, and chronic patients under 60 years receive the vaccine against the disease. The next group to be immunized is the elderly with chronic diseases, which begins Saturday immunization (24).
According to the Ministry of Health, 30 million people have been vaccinated across the country.
