8 P.M. (Hallmark) PANDEMIC (2007) Tiffani Thiessen, left, plays a very good-looking epidemiologist and team leader from the Centers for Disease Control in this three-hour movie about the riptide virus, a fictional deadly bird flu carried from Australia to California by an infected surfer on an airliner. Vincent Spano plays an F.B.I. agent in charge of a drug lord aboard the toxic plane. Eric Roberts is the mayor of Los Angeles. And ? step aside, Arnold ? Faye Dunaway is the governor of California, who responds to incipient mass hysteria in her state by imposing martial law.

I read the schedule to mean both parts 1 & 2 are on tonight and Sunday. It is a bit confusing...

The movie was horrible. LA is in midst of epidemic and the ONLY antiviral is brought in on two semis without even a police escort? Puh-LEEZE!

And I doubt if H3N7 would ever cause a pandemic, since the population is pretty well-protected against H3 by now, be it from exposure or seasonal vaccination. You can't spread what you can't catch. Drift, not shift, would occur here, with decreased mortality. Why couldn't they have made it an H16 then? Even H9 would have been better.

Loved everyone driving with masks but then TAKING THEM OFF when contacting people within six feet! And no gloves! Geez.

Still, a guilty pleasure, with the most horrifying thing being Faye's lift. Or maybe it was the thought of Eric Roberts being the mayor of LA.
