We at FluTrackers believe that it is important to recognize all pandemic threats.

From all the information that we have been able to gather we are of the mind that Chikungunya has become pandemic.

More information can be found at the following link:

It is important to differentiate between a pandemic that has a 50% mortality and pandemic that has a very low mortality.

While the mortality rate of the current Chikungunya is still debated, it may be very low.

This however does not mean that the effect of Chikugunya is any less devestating.

Because the virus is highly debilitating it can destroy an economy without destroying the populace as seen with the events of La Reunion and Madagascar.

It is for this reason that this pandemic should not be taken lightly as any area that becomes affected by Chikungunya will most likely suffer the same fate as La Reunion and Madagascar.
