Dengue:

of confirmed Dengue cases reported by surveillance
focal points from the Departments of Health in
Sindh and Punjab in 2012. Total number of confirmed
dengue cases to date in 2012 is 707 in Sindh and 353 in
Punjab. Month of peak incidence in 2010 was November
while peak incidence in 2011 was in September and
October. In 2012, the month of peak incidence September
for Punjab and November for Sindh.

Malaria:
The chart at right shows the Malaria slide
positivity and Falciparum ratio reported in week 50,
2012. Total number of malaria cases tested in this week
is 11154, out of which 1364 were found positive; 757
for P. Vivax; 460 for P. Falciparum; while 147 for Mixed
(SPR = 12.23%; F. R = 44.50%).

AWD:

D E W S H i g h l i g h t s

● During week 52, 2012; 904 health facilities from 23 districts provided
surveillance data for Sindh.
● The total number of consultations reported during the week in Sindh was
267,005 compared to 415,375 the previous reporting week. Other acute
diarrhea (OAD), upper respiratory tract infections (URTI), suspected malaria
(S.Mal) and Scabies (Scb) were the leading causes of morbidity this week.
● A total of 21 alerts with 7 outbreaks were reported in week 52, 2012;
Altogether 18 alerts of Measles, 2 NNT and 1 Pertussis alerts were received
and responded.
● In total 80 people were affected, where 80% of cases were aged <5 years.
● Five Deaths were reported due to Measles in district Sukkur this week.
