Contaminated water blamed for gastro in Landhi TAXILA: Four more children with symptoms of dengue fever were sent to Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
The death of two children suspectedly from dengue fever and admission of 19 others with symptoms of dengue fever could not move the local administration and health authorities to launch any fumigation and fogging drive in the village Larr in Dhoke Jhando located in union council Thatta Khalil of Taxila.
Local health experts feared outbreak of dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DF/DHF) in the area, as the infection has a tendency to turn into epidemics and outbreaks. The setting in of present season in Pakistan is ideal for spread of almost all kinds of mosquitoes including ?Aedes Aegypti?, the vector causing dengue fever.
When contacted Medical Superintendent Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taxila Dr Muhammad Shahid said that the suspected patients belong to six families living in same compound and under joint family system in village Larr in Dhoke Jhando, a far-flung village situated in remote area about 19 kilometers from here.
He said that special team of health department had already carried out fogging and anti dengue spray in the affected house and adjourning area.
He said that health authorities already conducted fogging of the city during the month of July this year.
Dr Ihsan, medical officer Basic Health Unit Pind Nowsheri, said that entire area and population living in the village were being monitored.
He said that all the 19 suspected children belong to six families living in same compound. He said that one prayer leader is head of this family.
