Panic grips among costal villagers of Orissa after detection of Chikenguniya virus from blood samples

Jagatsinghpur: Panic has gripped among the people of different costal villages of Kujang and Erasama blocks after detection of chikenguniya from the blood samples of affected people.
Sources said that hundreds of people of Chauta, Pokharipada under Erasama and Sahada village under Kujang block have been suffered from an unknown fever and disease in which medical team collected blood samples of 15 suspected cases from these villages. Blood samples had sent to SCB Medical College and hospital, Cuttack for examination which has detected chikenguniya virus of these patients. Meanwhile, many villagers have been admitted in different Primary Health Centers (PHCs) for the treatment of the Chikungunya.
"Chikungunya is spreading its tentacles in the village as the authorities have failed to provide potable water to the people. Main cause is to spread of this fever for mosquito menace as villagers are making their cowshed near their houses. Due to shortage of safe drinking water, many costal villagers are being compelled to drink polluted water from the ponds and rivers causing spread of Dengu and Chikenguniya in these villages.
