One little boy

Ronan Kelly

Retired 2020
I've been going through the recent reports for India and up dating the database, this one case has stopped me and I want to share it with you.

"Seven-year-old Sagar Bhalerao, a thalassemia patient, was taken to YCMH on September 13 with severe cough and fever. Since the paediatric ward of the hospital was full, he was taken to a private hospital in Chinchwad, from where he was referred to KEM Hospital the same day, Sagar's uncle Krishna Dedhe told TOI.
However, Sagar's parents took a discharge from the hospital against medical advice the very next day at 9 pm, said Jagdish Babu, a medical officer at KEM. The boy died at home five hours later, Dedhe said."

Thalassemia is a genetic disorder primarily of Greeks. This little boy may have been a descendant of one of Alexander the Great's army. He was turned away from a hospital in critical condition. I can only imagine the pain of his family.
