One in six patients examined in Poltava region diagnosed A/H1N1 influenza
Today at 18:13 | Interfax-Ukraine Poltava, January 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) - One in six of the patients examined in Poltava region is infected with A/H1N1 flu, the public health department of Poltava Region State Administration said on Jan. 27.
According to the department, 302 people out of 1,820 examined had this diagnosis confirmed.
Since the beginning of the epidemic in Ukraine, more than 151,000 citizens, or around 10% of the region's population, have sought medical assistance, and more than 9,000 people were hospitalized.
"A total of 2,102 people in the region sought medical assistance for acute respiratory viral infections in the last 24 hours. Some 51% of them were children," reads the department's report.
In the region, the highest infection rate is seen in Poltava, at 25.3%, the second in Kremenchuk, at 13.7%, while Lubny and Lokhvytsia districts are in third place, at 5% each in the last 24 hours. The rest of the region's districts have infection rates ranging between 0.19% and 2.3%.
In the last 24 hours 108 patients have been hospitalized, of which 41.6% are adults and 58.3% children.
Since the start of the epidemic, 2,009 medical workers have caught flu. In the last 24 hours, 12 medical workers were infected.
