One hundred sixty-two doses of Tamiflu disappeared from the cellars of ISSSTESON, where they were sheltered, according to the inventory taken between 5 and 6 December.
The inventory showed a huge missing between registered units and those that were in existence of Tamiflu, which is controlled by public health institutions to be used to combat virus infection of influenza A-H1N1.
The managers took part ISSSTESON the Attorney General of the State to initiate investigations and find who or whom the drug could gain control.
Oseltamivir is an antiviral prodrug selective against influenza virus. It is produced by Hoffmann-La Roche in the medicine under the name Tamiflu, and is used successfully for the moment to combat the new strain of Influenza A-H1N1.
In the case of patients suffering from severe flu or whose clinical condition begins to deteriorate, WHO recommends immediate administration of treatment with oseltamivir. Several studies have shown that early treatment, preferably within 48 hours from the onset of symptoms, often accompanied by a better outcome.
