Flu season hits Toronto hard and early

The flu is hitting Toronto and other parts of the country hard, with an earlier-than-usual start to the season and a big spike in cases.
FluWatch, the national surveillance system that monitors its spread, said that as of Dec.15 there were 3,557 people recorded cases in Canada.
At the same time last year, only 188 cases had been documented.
In Ontario, a total of 1,224 influenza cases were reported as of Dec.15 by the Ontario Respiratory Virus Bulletin.
There have been 238 hospitalizations and 15 deaths in the province due to the flu as of Dec.15, according to the bulletin. Toronto Public Health confirmed a surge in cases in Toronto, but the provincial and national flu-monitoring organizations didn?t break down the numbers according to city...
