Number of confirmed flu cases in Windsor-Essex climbs to 36 after holidays

Just as the holidays are winding down, there are now 36 confirmed flu cases in Windsor-Essex, and doctors are busy with parainfluenza and other wintertime bugs, too.
Dr. Allen Heimann, medical officer of health at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, said 11 new flu cases were confirmed this past weekend, bringing the total to three dozen.
Data is not yet available to say for sure whether the past few weeks saw a sharp spike in the number of cases, Heimann said, but local health care providers have seen ?an increase? over the holiday period. ?We probably have a lot more that have not been confirmed,? he said...
