Old Saybrook To Open Special Hot line At Emergency Operations Center

UPDATED: 10:43 pm EDT October 27, 2009

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. -- The emergency operations center at the Old Saybrook Town Hall will open on Wednesday to answer residents' questions about H1N1 and upcoming flu clinics.

The board of directors of the Connecticut River Area Health District in cooperation with the town of Old Saybrook have decided to open a flu hot line.

Trained personnel will be on hand to answer calls from people living in the health district and collect data for an upcoming H1N1 flu clinic.

Health district director Mary Jane Engle said, "Many, many parents are concerned about getting the H1N1 vaccine for their children and pregnant women are concerned."

Old Saybrook First Selectman Michael Pace said, "The only way we can get information out is to use the Old Saybrook Emergency Operations Center for a hot line center that will be able to take calls from our three towns and four surrounding towns."

If you live in the lower Connecticut River Valley Health District and surrounding towns and have flu related questions you are asked to call the flu hot line by dialing 860-395-3045 or 860-395-3046 beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
