OKLAHOMA CITY ? The Oklahoma State Department of Health says at least two people have died of influenza in recent months.

According to reports, 77 Oklahomans were hospitalized because of flu complications in the past two weeks, more than double the total number reported since Sept. 1.

One dies, 62 hospitalized last week from flu

One person died and 62 were hospitalized because of the flu last week. The death was a man older than 64 who lived in McClain County, said Laurence Burnsed, director of the communicable disease division at the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

That brings the total number of deaths this season to three, all of whom had underlying health conditions. The number of hospitalizations is now 212, and 24 of those cases required intensive care, according to the state health department.
