Influenza-Associated Mortality Surveillance
? Seven influenza-associated deaths were
reported during the current reporting week resulting
in a total of 27 reported influenza-associated
deaths since surveillance began September 1, 2009;
o Reported deaths have been among individuals in
the following age groups: 9 were children less
than 19 years of age; 8 were adults 25-49 years
of age; 5 were adults 50-64 years of age; 5 were
an adults 65 years and older;
o17 of 27 influenza-associated deaths
had documented history of underlying medical
conditions that may have increased their risk of
illness, including asthma and other respiratory
conditions (11), diabetes (2), obesity (2), or an
immunocompromising condition (2). Some
patients had more than one condition; and
o County of residence: Oklahoma (8), Tulsa (7),
Carter (2), Cleveland (3), Canadian, Comanche,
Garfield, Kay, LeFlore, Muskogee, and Noble
