An Okanagan resident is dead after contracting the H1N1 influenza virus.
Interior Health Representative Leslie Coates confirmed the death.
"We can confirm the death of an adult woman in her 50's from the Okanagan with lab confirmed influenza H1N1. The other details around exact age and location we are not releasing. But we can confirm someone has died related to H1N1"
Unconfirmed reports say it was a 59 year old woman who passed away at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on December 29th but Interior Health has not released those details.
