Last week, four children infected with diphtheria were admitted to the Children’s Clinical University Hospital (BKUS). None of them were vaccinated, BKUS reports.
According to the hospital, thanks to good vaccination coverage Latvia remained a “diphtheria-free zone” until last week. However, there is a local diphtheria outbreak, with several unvaccinated adults and children already hospitalised.
