Daniel Paul Solomon
An investigation has been underway in the death of a 65-year-old, male inmate in the Orange County Correctional Facility.
According to Det. Chad Hogan of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Orange resident, Daniel Paul Solomon, was incarcerated in the county jail, Aug. 5, on a capias pro fine warrant and a failure to appear warrant for possession of marijuana.
He was transferred to the infirmary Thursday morning with medical issues. Acadian Ambulance and the Orange Fire Department responded to the facility around 12:30 p.m. when Solomon’s condition was determined to be a medical emergency. He was transported to Baptist Hospital in Orange where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigation determined there was no foul play and that Solomon apparently died due to an unknown medical issue. Justice of the Peace Derry Dunn ordered an inquest and Solomon was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy.
Tommy Brown, forensic pathologist, has ruled that Solomon died due to severe pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
