Apparently there are businesses that solicit donations to charities and then sometimes forward those monies to the requested charity. Microsoft seems to have partnered with one group to do this:
"Nonprofits are not endorsed by Microsoft. Microsoft partners with Benevity to facilitate donations. You are donating to a donor advised fund at American Online Giving Foundation (AOGF) with a recommendation that they make a corresponding grant to the entity you've selected. You agree to let AOGF take exclusive legal control of your donation. Donations are non-refundable...."
We are not accepting donations at this time. We have made that clear for several years. We will not be "owned". We will refuse any donation funneled through a 3rd party such as Benevity or AOGF.
We will refuse any donation that is not directly solicited on this site and requested by me. We do not give anyone any authority to raise money for us.
