Norway to ramp up Covid restrictions following infection surge

The Norwegian government will introduce additional measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 following a recent surge of infections, the country’s health minister announced on Monday.

“These measures will be felt in our daily lives,” Ingvild Kjerkol told public broadcaster NRK, adding that the restrictions will be revealed on Tuesday.

Covid-19 infections in Norway are at their peak – the highest daily average reported – with 3,301 new infections reported each day.

There have been 281,475 infections and 1,093 coronavirus-related deaths reported in the country since the pandemic began.

It comes after the Norwegian government recently imposed travel restrictions after announcing that all travellers who wish to enter the country will have to be tested...
