Northeast Ohio: Two confirmed cases of adult measles

CLEVELAND -- The Cuyahoga County Board of Health says there are two, unrelated cases of measles in unvaccinated adults. One case in Cuyahoga County, the other in Summit County.

Adults born during of after 1957 who have not been vaccinated are at risk. Adults who are at higher risk include college students, international travelers and healthcare personnel.

The confirmed case in Cuyahoga County is an unvaccinated adult that has not traveled outside the US Mainland. The confirmed Summit County case is an adult whose illness relates to international travel. Both individuals have fully recovered and there are no other reports in Northeast Ohio.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio -- Two cases of measles have been reported in Northeast Ohio. The Summit and Cuyahoga County health departments each report a case of an unvaccinated adult contract measles.

Officials say the cases are unrelated. One person went to South Africa and came back with the measles, the Cuyahoga County patient contracted it while in the U.S...

...The cases in Northeast Ohio appear to be isolated cases, and, according to health officials, there should be no concern about an outbreak. Both of the people who got measles have been treated and are over their illness...
