EPIDEMIOLOGICAL COMMENTS
First clinical signs are noticed by the owner on 29.12.2021 and first dead cases were reported on 01.01.2022 in a small backyard farm located in East part of country. On 5th January 2022 blood samples, swabs and organs has been taken for laboratory examination of the presence of the African swine fever virus. The positive results were obtained on January 6, 2022 by the method of real time PCR in the Laboratory of Faculty of veterinary medicine, Skopje. The affected holding was in category with medium risk concerning implementation of biosecurity measures. According to the epidemiological investigation possible patterns of entrance of the disease are contact with wild boars. On 07th of January, the Food and Veterinary Agency issued the Decision on protective and control measures establishing protection 3km and surveillance zone 10km and the measures that will apply on the holding and in the distinctive zones. On 10th of January a stamping out policy was carried out among all pig holdings in the 3 km area.
