GREENSBORO -- Several residents of a local assisted living facility recently sanctioned by the state were sent to the hospital this weekend with a dangerous virus.
Moses Cone Hospital confirmed that 11 Loyalton of Greensboro residents were treated Saturday for norovirus. All of the patients are recovering, though three remained in the hospital as of late Monday afternoon, according to the hospital.
Health officials said the virus is serious but that it's not uncommon for it to spread in close communities such as an assisted living facility.

Samples from five patients at the medical center's community living center were sent to the state laboratory in Raleigh after patients came down with a sudden onset of vomiting and diarrhea over the weekend. Three samples tested positive for the virus, which is often found on cruise ships.
