Abia records three suspected cases of measles
The Abia Government says it has recorded three suspected cases of measles in Arochukwu and Umunneochi Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo, disclosed on Tuesday while briefing newsmen in Umuahia on the outcome of the state Executive Council meeting.

She said that frantic efforts were being made to contain the outbreak and prevent further spread of the disease.

“We assume the quantum of the infection to be an outbreak, hence our proactive measures to control the situation.​..

No measles outbreak in Kano municipal – Health ministry

The Kano state Ministry of Health has refuted a media report saying that there was measles outbreak in Kano municipal LGA in which local and international conventional media lifted the story.

In a press release issued from the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry, the director, Public Health and Disease Control, Dr. Imam Wada Bello, was quoted to have vehemently debunked the story in its entirety.

Dr. Imam pointed out that before outbreak of disease is declared, there were certain procedures and indexes that are being considered, including laboratory investigations and examinations as well as assessing its gravity and number of people contracted.

In a statement issues by information officer, Ministry of Health, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Wednesday, said in the case of Kano Municipal LGA, none of the procedures were conducted to warrant the declaration of measles outbreak, urging people to disregard the story because it lacks empirical and clinical evidences to substantiate it.​..

A complication from measles is suspected to have killed at least 19 children in Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa.

The Commissioner for Health, Felix Tangwami told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Mubi on Saturday that more than 200 children in the local government area were already infected.

He said the outbreak was reported in Yola on Saturday, leading to a quick mobilisation of medics and drugs to affected communities...​

Adamawa Govt confirms 42 deaths in fresh measles outbreak

​The Adamawa State Government on Friday confirmed that 42 people have died due to outbreak of measles in Mubi and Gombi local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwame gave the figure to newsmen shortly after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Yola.

The commissioner said the measles outbreak affected eight wards in Mubi and seven wards in Gombi local government areas, with a death toll of 42 out of 131 and 177 affected persons, respectively, in the two LGAs...

NCDC reports 7,842 measles, 4,266 meningitis cases

No fewer than 7,842 suspected cases of measles have been reported in Nigeria from January to March 31.

The cases were reported from 34 states and the FCT, and across 631 local government areas in the country

Also, the Cerebrospinal Meningitis situation report showed that 4,266 suspected cases and 339 deaths have been reported across 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory since the beginning of the 2023/2024 season.

The 2023/2024 season is from week 40 of 2023 to week 18 of 2024...

Suspected measles outbreak kills 10 children in Abuja

AT least 10 children have been reported dead due to a suspected measles outbreak in the Damangaza area of Lokogoma, Abuja.

According to a report, the head of the Damangaza community, James Budebo, disclosed this on Friday, July 12, during an outreach in the community.

The outreach was organised by a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Vaccine Network for Disease Control (VNDC) and the Damangaza Primary Healthcare Centre.
