Newcastle Disease Virus Found in Domestic Pigeons in Russia

Officials in Arkhangelsk Oblast in Russia's north announced on 15 Nov
2007 that a local veterinary lab found Newcastle Disease virus (NCD)
in 2 dead domestic pigeons sent in by residents. [See map at

[Two pigeons with NCD are not alarming news; the main reason for
posting this information is its encouraging demonstration of the
prevailing local alertness for avian diseases, particularly avian
influenza.
