New flu - Epidemic slowing down in Hungary
Budapest, December 9 (MTI) - Last week 42,900 people saw their doctors and reported flu-like symptoms, six percent up from the week before, as opposed to the steep increase in patient numbers earlier, Health Minister Tamas Szekely said in Parliament's health committee on Wednesday.
Szekely added that the number of patients in central Hungary, where the epidemic had spread most dynamically, had actually decreased.
So far, 25 people carrying the H1N1 virus have died in Hungary, the minister said, adding that over 22 percent of the total population had now been inoculated against the new flu.
