New death confirmed in Karapitiya Hospital

M.P. Sooriya Arachchi (29) of Muththeuwatte, Yakkalamulla, died of swine flu on Thursday (03) shortly after giving birth at the Karapitiya hospital.

The woman who had contacted the flu during her pregnancy had been admitted to the hospital on 27 November. The child was delivered after a caesarean section.

The victim died while under treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The infant who has developed symptoms of the illness is also being treated at the ICU. So far two persons including a ten-year-old girl have died of the A H1N1 deaths at the Karapitiya hospital.
