DHULIKHEL: Bird flu has been confirmed in three poultry farms in Kavrepalanchok district on Monday.

According to Samjhana Kafle, the chief of District Livestock Office, the avian influenza virus (H5N1) was detected in the chickens at Nepal Hatchery, Sanga and two poultry farms operated by Bhagwan Khatri.

Following the confirmation, a rapid response team is preparing to cull the infected fowls.

Kavrepalanchok adjoins the bird flu-hit Bhaktapur district.

Over 15,000 chickens culled

BANEPA, Aug 12: Bird flu virus has been confirmed for the first time in Kavrepalanchowk district. The H5N1 virus was found in the parent stock, the chickens kept for breeding, at two hatcheries based in Sanga VDC ward number 2 and Ugratara Janagal VDC ward number 4 respectively in the district.

Parent stock at Ashapuri Hatchery Breeder Firm at Ugratara Janagal-4, which is owned by first vice chair of first vice president of Nepal Poultry Federation Narayan Hari Khatri has been found infected by the bird flu virus.

The rapid response team from Kathmandu culled 10,323 parent chickens and destroyed 28,957 hatchable eggs and 1,450 kg of poultry feed...

BANEPA, Aug 26: Bird flu virus has been confirmed for the third time in Kavrepalanchowk district. The H5N1 virus was detected in the parent stock at Pravat Poultry Hatchery. The poultry is one of the biggest in the whole district.

Immediately after detection of the bird flu virus, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) from the Directorate of Animal Health has started culling chickens from Sunday morning. There are around 33,000 parent chickens (KAB-500 breed) in the hatchery...

According to District Livestock Office, the H5N1 virus has spread to the villages from Kavre?s Nasikasthan, Sanga, Ugratara Jangal, Mahendrajyoti, Dhulikhel, and Panauti. Samples from the poultry farms belonging to Sudarshan Ghimire at Patlekhet-4 and Niranjan Dahal at Ugrachandi Nala VDC-6 had tested positive for bird flu on Friday, the livestock office informed...
