North Carolina hospital has three cases of 'Superbug'

CHARLOTTE -

Hospitals in the Charlotte area took preventative measures following news that an area hospital has three cases of superbug CRE.

According to WSOC, three cases have been confirmed at Carolinas HealthCare System-Lincoln this year.

"CRE, which stands for carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, are a family of germs that are difficult to treat because they have high levels of resistance to antibiotics," according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
